The best ingredients for your best FURiend

Apple

Apples are a naturally sweet treat packed with vitamins A, C, and K, and minerals like phosphorus, and calcium. These are good for your pup's skin, coat, and bones. Apples are also high in fiber which is great for digestion. Apple skin contains antioxidant polyphenols, which can help support your fur baby's immune system.

Banana

Bananas are rich in vitamin B6 and biotin. They also contain potassium, which is important for a dog's heart, kidneys, muscles, and digestion. Another mineral your pup's can get from bananas is magnesium, which plays an important role in energy metabolism.

Carrot

As a treat, carrots are a low-calorie option for dogs looking to slim down. As an ingredient, carrots contain minerals and vitamins that make them not only tasty but healthy too. Vitamin A, is crucial for vision, nerve, skin and muscle health. Antioxidants, such as the beta-carotene, found in carrots, have been shown to prevent cell damage.

Coconut

Coconut oil is high in medium chain triglycerides (MCT's). This sounds scary, but is actually a good thing! These MCT's are quickly metabolized, which provides a boost of energy and can help with weight loss. They also aid in the digestion of other ingredients including probiotics. Coconut also helps sooth dry skin and gives a shiny, healthy coat. As an added bonus to furparents, coconut helps combat bad doggy breath!

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is the classic doggy treat ingredient. However, some commercial brands can contain a sugar-substitute called xylitol which can be poisonus to dogs. In addition, many companies add sugar, salt and preservatives to their products - things your pup shouldn't have! Kloud9 Barkery uses only natural peanut butter containing nothng but 100% peanuts. This ingredient is a great source of protein and healthy fats. Peanuts also contain vitamin B6 and niacin, which, among other things, support immune response and aid in the function of enzymes, red blood cells, and the nervous system. Vitamin E is also found in peanuts, which is a key nutrient for healthy eyes and muscles.

Pumpkin

Pumpkins are one of the most nutrient-rich ingredients a dog can have. Antioxidants beta-carotene and lutein, potassium, vitamins C, E and A are just some of the key players. These nutrients work to support eye health, improve coat and skin condition, and boost the immune system to fight off disease and infection. Pumpkin is excellent for digestive health as it contains both fiber (helps treat constipation and diarrhea) and prebiotics (feeds the bacteria in the gut). Fiber also helps with weight loss as it keeps dogs feeling fuller longer. From nose to tail, pumpkin has a wide variety of nutrients to keep your pup healthy.

Sweet Potato

Like carrots and pumpkin, sweet potato has that orange color characteristic of beta-carotene. This antioxidant can be converted into vitamin A which not only boosts the immune system, but also supports your pup's vision, nerves, muscles and skin health. Sweet potatoes also contain protein, manganese, potassium and vitamins C, B6 and B5. Fiber is another key component in sweet potatoes, which aids in digestive health.

Whole-Grain Oats

For those pups with a sensitivity to wheat, oats can be a great gluten-free alternative. Whole-grain oats are a carbohydrate and provide dogs with a good source of energy. They also contain fiber, which is helpful in regulating the gastrointestinal tract as well as blood glucose levels. Oats are packed with linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that helps keep skin strong and healthy.

Yogurt

Like peanut butter, some commercial yogurts contain additives such as xylitol, sugars, flavoring compounds, coloring, etc. Dogs are not built to digest these ingredients. Kloud9 Barkery uses only plain greek yogurt, so we can give your pup all the benefits without the extras they shouldn't have! Yogurt is an excellent source of protein and calcium which support muscle, tissue and bone health. It also contains probiotics and live bacterial cultures which can improve gut health and digestion.
